Dear Mrs.Hembree
I LOVE the one and Only Ivan it’s a great book. It’s sad it’s happy.😄😠When we finished the book all the kids where sad it was done. Some kids even got the book I have it on my iPod. What was your favorite part? Mine was when Ivan was rembering his pass or when Ruby came in.

Dear Rachel,
Thank you for visiting our blog and leaving a quality comment! The One and Only Ivan is such a fabulous book.
I haven’t met anyone yet who didn’t enjoy it. I like Ivan’s friendship with Ruby.
I looked at your blog and enjoyed your post about HTML code!
I hope you read this summer!

My students and I absolutely love the trailers that you and your students have created. We are gearing up for our last few weeks of school and would love to try this project ourselves. I was wondering if there were any graphic organizers that you utilize as you are guiding students through this process. If you would be willing, I would love to see/hear any organizers or pointers that you would have for a teacher getting ready to tackle this project.
Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment on the blog! The book trailer project is a fun one, and a great way to end the school year. I used a simple table as our graphic organizer, nothing fancy at all. We used the basic repetition rule of one photo, then accompanying text. About 10 photos + 10 text = a trailer. It can be more or less, but that’s a basic recipe. I have a resource handout http://mobile.lwsd.org/access/web?id=8705863860567672586 that is on the book trailer page. It has tips and examples of different styles of trailers you can make.
My biggest tip, choose an easy chapter book and not one with a movie. Have the students work in cooperative groups and divide up the photos they are looking for within the group.
Hi Nova,
Of course I remember you! That’s so great that you have Mrs. Weber at your school! She is a great librarian and I enjoyed working with her. Have you read Wonder yet? It’s really, really awesome! What have you read lately? Leave me a comment and let me know!
