One of the benefits of educational blogging is to give students an authentic audience for their ideas, writing and projects. Blogging gives them the opportunity to become educated global learners, connected and ready for the 21st century world. I urge you to participate in celebrating those educators and students you respect in the social media world. Share your nominations with the world! Nominations are open until December 1, 2013.

  1. Dear Mrs Hembree,

I cannot believe that it is that time of the year again. So many to pick from. I really liked your nominations. As it’s great to read some of my old favourites are right up there with the ones that you have selected.

I feel just to get nominated is a great honour.

    From your pal,
    AA 🙂

    • Greetings AA,
Yes, this time of year when our school terms are winding down signals Edublog Award time. It’s not easy to ever pick a nomination because as you said, there are so many to choose from. One person I included is a student named Mallory who began Prject Yesu http://www.projectyesu.org/ I met her in person in September and was struck by her commitment to helping children in Uganda. I know if you and BB look at her website, she will amaze you as well.

I hope you will tell BB hello, and that I wish her well in the last few weeks of grade 5! I miss her blog.

      Chilly in Seattle,
      Mrs. Hembree

      • @ Mrs Hembree,

Thank you for commenting back to me. I have finally checked out Mallory’s blog. What an amazing young lady she is. We all sure can learn heaps from her amazing spirit of helping others in need.
I really hope she does well in these awards.

Your are so very kind in saying you miss BB’s blog, She has had a very productive year and can’t wait to start grade six.

Now take care and will visit again.
        From your pal down under,
        AA 🙂

  2. Dear Mrs. Hembree,

A million thanks for the Edublog nomination for Best Class Blog! My students and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness!

I love the Edublogs because it gives us all a chance to share what blogs and resources we follow and learn from with one another. It’s also a great platform to learn about new ones too! I’ll be checking out the student blog you mentioned:

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Stay warm!

    Your pal,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    • Dear Mrs. Yollis,
When it comes to Edublog nominations, YOU are ALWAYS at the top of my list. You are my mentor and I have learned so much about blogging through you and your students.

Mallory is an amazing student. I met her at the Bammy Awards in Washington, DC. What she is doing for children in Uganda is a stellar example of the positive side of teenagers.

      Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
      Chilly and happy in Seattle,
      Mrs. Hembree

  3. Dear Mrs Hembree,
I have been so busy this year doing projects for school , rehearsing lines for my production etc. I am so sorry I have not wrote on your blog for quite a long time. I cannot believe the Edublog Awards have arrived so quickly. I am so excited it is the first day of SUMMER tomorrow. I hope you have a good chance of winning Best Librarian Blog you deserve it because of all the effort and dedication you put into your blog.

    My fingers are crossed

Hope to hear from you ,
    BB 😀

    • Dear BB,
Congratulations! You have completed another year of school! I want to hear more about the production you were in. What play was it? What part did you play? Was it a play or a musical?
Now it’s summer for you. Do you have special plans for the time off?
My mother is coming to visit us for Christmas and is flying from the southeast corner of the US (Florida) to Washington. She is going to freeze when she is here! Florida is hot and sunny in the winter, and it is cold, cold, cold here. In fact it may snow in the next day or two.
      What are you reading?
      Your Seattle friend,
      Mrs. Hembree

    • Dear Juan,
Thanks for the support of our blog! If you really like it, you can also now vote for us! We are included as finalists in the Edublog awards. We would love your vote!
      From,
      Mrs. Hembree
