Where did you read this summer?

kate

Where  did you read this summer? Was here or there? Near or Far? To keep their reading skills sharp our readers kept reading all summer long. It’s just as important to read in the summer time as it is during the school year. To make it a little more fun, we added a dose of silliness! We got caught reading in super fun or super silly places! We had…..drum roll please…..

  1. Dear Mrs. Hembree,
My favorite book that I read this year was wonder. Wonder is a great book and I think that every school should read this .
    Sincerely,
    Irene 🙂

    • Dear Irene,
I couldn’t agree with you more. Wonder is a spectacular book. If you like that one, I think you might enjoy Because of Mr. Terupt. It’s about a teacher and his 6th grade students.
Let me know what you think!
      Mrs. Hembree

  2. I love, love, love this program you run every year!

Not only do we all get to read, but we get to see all the fun places people go! I could not stop smiling as I watched the slide show! 🙂

    Thank you, Mrs. Hembree!

  3. Dear Mrs Hembree,
I am so sorry I have not wrote on your blog it has been such a long time I truly am sorry. I will give you a re cap on what’s quickly happened this week. It was the last day of Term (Semester) 3 in Australia so I am on the first week of holidays.
On Thursday I got to show my work to all the Grade 5 parents and teachers and all the Grade 5’s.

I am reading the book the Magician’s Elephant it is very sad as the elephant crushed a lady and she is now crippled (paralyzed). The Magician did not intend of the elephant crashing down through the roof. The magician said he “only intended lilies.
I love the picture of the girl hanging upside down as now my mum AA and friends have taught me to do that as I am not the best at flips and being flexible. I love all the pictures though of everyone reading.

    From your pal,

    BB.

PS I hope to visit your blog again.

    • Dear BB,

The Magician’s Elephant is a different kind of book. Kate DiCamillo writes a wide variety of books. While that particular one is not my favorite, I LOVE Because of Winn Dixie. I tend to love most doggie stories.

This 5th grade year for you is going by so quickly. It’s hard to believe that you will be in your last term for 5th grade. What happens at 6th grade? Is it still in elementary school or is it in middle school? I really don’t know many details about the Australian system.

I used to be good at hanging upside down on the bars, but have done that in years! Like you, I’m not super flexible, so flips weren’t on my “best list” either.

All my best and hope vacation is/was awesome!
      Mrs. Hembree
