Heaps of Aussie Fun!

Calling all girls who like to read fun mysteries! I have just the book for you!

Alice Miranda at School is a story of 7 and 1/4 year old Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones who is attending boarding school for the very first time! When she gets to her new school – the Winchesterfield-Downfordvale Academy for Proper Young Ladies, she quickly realizes that there are some strange things happening.

Why doesn’t the headmistress Miss Grimm ever come out of her office? Why aren’t there any flowers growing on the grounds of the school? Why can’t Mrs. Oliver go on vacation to visit her grandchildren? Leave it to Alice Miranda to find out the answers to these questions and more!

This is book one of a very popular Australian series. Our blogging buddy BB told me about it months ago, and finally it arrived! Here is what she had to say about it!

So girls,ย here’s what I have to say. I thought it was a very funny story and I love how spirited Alice Miranda is without being rude. However, you don’t have to listen to me!ย ย Listen to BB! She knows her Australian books and is the same age as you! Better yet, visit her blog and leave her a comment! BB’s Awesome Blog

Who is going to be the first one to try this awesome Aussie story I wonder??? In the meantime, Miss Yeoman in Melbourne, Australia told me her library is hosting Jacqueline Harvey on March 23rd! You can read about it here. Ms. Harvey also has her own blog which you can visit.

Plus, if you love blogging and Alice Miranda, why not comment on her blog too? Yes, Alice Miranda has a blog and loves visitors. You can visit it here.

    • Dear Miss Y,
What perfect timing! I hope your visit with Jacqueline Harvey is awesome! Please tell her hello from Seattle, WA.
I love your new book trailer! Aren’t they fun to make? I have been to New York city a few times, and you found great photos that show the best parts of the city and the book!
Let us know how the visit goes.
      From,
      Mrs. Hembree

  1. Hi Mrs Hembree

I also thought what an amazing coincidence when I read your blog post about Alice-Miranda (while I was eating my breakfast)!

It’s interesting to see that the Alice-Miranda book cover is different to our cover here in Australia. Jacqueline Harvey is doing her book tour for “Alice-Miranda in New York” here in Australia and then she is heading over to America to visit some schools there. I will ask her tomorrow if she is going to be near your school.

  2. Dear Mrs Hembree,

How wonderful that you finally received your copy of the Jacqueline Harvey book which I somehow know all the girls will enjoy reading it.

BB will be so thrilled to read this post for she is at school right at this moment while I am writing to you.

I haven’t read any of the Jacqueline Harvey books but I know from BB she does says that they are an awesome read. ๐Ÿ™‚
You will be happy to know that I rang my local book store to order the book Wonder. Am so looking forward to reading this book.

I have never read any series books as I much rather read the main one.

I hope all the girls enjoy reading the Jacqueline Harvey book.
Maybe you may like to do a post about it Mrs Hembree?
Did you get a chance to read it and did you enjoy the book Mrs Hembree?

You are so kind Mrs Hembree about what you wrote, as a mum I thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Dear AA,
I enjoyed reading Alice Miranda. She made me laugh and I liked that she was a strong positive character! She solves problems with her brain and manners. I don’t see that often very much. Now I hope our girls will like it!
      From,
      Mrs. Hembree

  3. Dear Mrs Hembree,

Like you said Mrs Hembree Alice Miranda is such a wonderful book especially for girls who like Mysteries. Alice Miranda would have to be one of my favourite books to read.

    • Dear BB,
If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t know about this great series from Australia! I hope our girls will enjoy reading about Miss Alice Miranda!

I don’t know if I would have liked going to boarding school. I like adventures and loved going away to summer camp each summer, so I might have liked that option!

I can’t decide on a favorite series of books because I have so many. I like different books for different reasons. I love Roscoe Riley Rules and Junie B. Jones because they make me laugh! I like the Magic Tree House books because of the adventures Jack and Annie go on. I loved the Hunger Games series because they are such griping, how onto to the edge of your seat stories. I like the Among the Hidden series by Margaret Haddix, because her science fiction book are situations that really could happen now.

What I do like aobut series books is that the characters seem like friends that I can visit over and over.

Have you already read Alice Miranda in New York? I hear that is the newest book in the series!

What is your next post going to be about I wonder!
      Happy Reading,
      Mrs. Hembree

      • @ Mrs Hembree,
Thank you so much for replying back to me and my comment.

Mrs Hembree thank you so much for the sweet compliments they made me so happy.

You have a lot of books you like to read Mrs Hembree. I like to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid because Greg has so many funny adventures.

Magic Tree House books are very adventurous especially if you like adventure books.

I have not got the chance to read Alice Miranda in New York but it sounds like an awesome book.

        From your pal,
        BB.
