New Year 2012 = New Books!

Custom Glitter Text

The Bulldog Readers wish you lots of reading happiness!

What better way to launch a new year of reading than with new books? The first group of books was purchased with funds from Reading with Rover.

Reading with Rover donated $250 to our school toward purchasing books for reading. It was their way of thanking Mrs. Daly and myself for our commitment to Reading with Rover with our dogs Jett, Silas and Reese. I spent my portion of the money on new library books!

I couldn’t forget our older readers, so they got a new stack of books too!

Who knows? Maybe one of these will become the next Newbery Award winner for 2011!

  1. Dear Mrs Hembree,

Happy New Year to you and your Bulldog readers!

What a great selections of books you have bought for your library.
They all look like wonderful reads.

I have read a couple of the Bindi books and I must say that I really loved reading them.

Somehow I feel that your Bulldog readers are going to love reading all these wonderful selections of books !

The weather here at present has been really awful way to hot as you just burn. Hopefully it will cool down today.

    From your very warm pal,

    AA. 🙂

    • Dear AA,
Happy New Year and all the best to you in 2012!

I have read a couple Bindi books too, and they are fun to read. I like how she shows how important nature and animals are to our world.

Are you reading any good books?
      From,
      Mrs. Hembree

  2. Dear Mrs Hembree,
WOW you have got a lot of books for 2012. I have not read any books from the books you have got.

The book that caught my eye was the book Bigger than a Bread Box. It sounds like the book is going to be very funny.

I have heaps of suggestions for which books you could buy.

BabyMouse :), Judy Moody (Which is for very adventrous . By Megan Mcdonald 🙂 and Geronimo Stiltion.

    From your pal,
    BB.

PS I have a selection of Bindi books and I enjoyed reading them.

    • Dear BB,
It has been such a busy week, and it’s taken me a few days to reply to your wonderful comment! I hope you are enjoying your new year and vacation!
Bigger Than a Bread Box is a great book. My new post has a book trailer about it made by a 12 year old girl. It might look like it’s funny, but it’s really not. We are reading it on our recess Read Aloud Tuesdays.

Thank you for the book suggestions. We have all of your ideas, but I think I need to move my Geronimo Stilton books. They are on a bottom shelf and don’t get seen very easily.

I hope you are reading a great book!
      From your buddy,
      Mrs. Hembree

  3. I always like to point out to students that Groosham Grange predates Harry Potter by nearly ten years! Horowitz was so sensible when people compared the two, but they are really very similar!

    • Dear Ms. Yingling,
I saw the Horowitz book, like the cover and bought it! I have students who really like his books, so I took a leapt! it’s intersting that you know all about this title.
Thank you so much for visiting our blog! I will visit yours soon!
      From,
      Mrs. Hembree
