Visiting Forks and all things Twilight

I had the chance to visit Forks, Washington this past weekend,  home of Bella and Edward and all things Twilight. Forks is a very small town located on the far west side of Washington between the Olympic Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Once known for their logging industry, Forks is now famous as the setting of the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. We had fun visiting Bella’s truck from the movie, having a Bella Burger at Sully’s Restaurant and having our photos taken between cardboard cut-outs of Bella and Jacob. We also witnessed the incredible amounts of rain that pours down on Forks each year. Last year, in 2009, Forks recorded over 101 inches of rain. That’s over 8 feet of rain!  It’s also why everything is lush green and beautiful! We also visited La Push (Jacob’s hometown in the series) and walked in the Quinalt Rainforest. This temperate rainforest is home to the World’s Largest Spruce Tree! We walked and we looked, but we never saw any werewolves or vampires! I do have a new Twilight in Forks pencil, a Jacob bookmark and Edward bookmark, and some AntiVampire Dust in a very nice blood red bottle! I am prepared for everything now!

  1. Hi Mrs. Hembree my mom wants to go to forks too! We were planning to this summerbut it didn’t happen. Also do you know how big the spruce tree was?

    • Hi Rowan,
Forks is a fun place to visit. The store keepers said it gets busy in the summer. We liked visiting in the fall when we could talk to people and not feel crowded. The world’s largest Sitka Spruce tree is 1,000 years old, 191 feet high and 18 feet, 9 in in diameter! It’s huge. It’s one of the giant trees found in the Quinalt Rainforest. It’s also easy to visit because it’s near the Lake Quinalt Lodge and on a flat trail. Mrs. Hembree

  2. Syon, his brother, ALOT of other family members and I drove down to Forks this last summer. I am a TWIMOM (a HUGE Twilight follower) Syon gets a little embarrased at times because of my obssesion 🙂 the books are amazing and the boys and I love the movies as well. Our roadtrip there was so much fun! We only stayed in the Forks area. We didn’t make it to LaPush…we enjoyed shopping and we bought ALOT of Twilight memorabilia 🙂 my favorite part was driving around and finding all the landmarks (Bella’s house/Cullen’s house/school) etc.. we also enjoyed the ferry ride home!!
We will be going again this summer. We are going to stay there for at least 2 nights this time and travel to LaPush and really enjoy all of the Olympic Peninsula….can’t wait!
    From, Syon’s Mom
