Pete’s Off to Australia!
Pete the Cat is a good friend of Mrs. Hembree. This weekend he came home with her so he wouldn’t be lonely sitting in the library all weekend.
On Saturday morning, Mrs. Hembree got up and walked into the dining room.
What did she see?
Pete the Cat was stuffing himself into a really big envelope!
“What are you doing Pete?” she asked. Pete started singing!
“Where are you traveling to Pete? I see there are some letters on the envelope. Does that say Australia?” Mrs. Hembree asked Pete.
“YES! Australia!” Pete exclaimed! “I’m going to Australia and I’m singing this song!”
“Pete, won’t you be scared? Australia is a long way from Seattle! It’s not even in North America!” said Mrs. Hembree.
“NO!” he shouted! “I won’t be scared! I’m going to see my friend and I’ll be singing my song!”
“Tell me Pete, how did you decide to go to Australia? Do you know someone there?” asked Mrs. Hembree.
Pete said, “Do you know BB our Blogging Buddy? She asked me if I could come visit! So I decided since it started raining here, that I would visit her in Australia.
Did you know Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere? When it’s fall here, it’s sunny and warm there because it’s springtime! I’m going to have fun and I’m going to be singing my song!”
“Ok Pete. It sounds like you know what you want to do and who you want to see! Let’s go to the post office and get you on the road!” Mrs. Hembree said.
“Thanks Mrs. Hembree! Don’t forget! I’m going to see BB and I’ll be singing my song!” Pete waved goodbye and was gone in a flash. She could hear in the background faint sounds of his song…..
***************
Oh no! Australia is a long way from here!
Do you think he will get lost?
Will he have fun?
Will he get back in time to go to Prague?
Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Dear Mrs. Hembree,
I love Pete’s enthusiasm and love of travel. Blogging brings so many cool cats together! He’ll have a great time while there. He’ll get to meet BB, AA, and Hack!
ABOUT how many miles will Pete travel if he makes it back in time to head off to Prague?
Perhaps later in the year he’d like to make the journey to southern California. What do you think?

Dear Mrs. Yollis,
Pete sure likes to do things! He wanted to record his song for everyone, but ran out of time. He had to get in the package before the post office closed!
I wonder if any students can figure out how many miles Pete will travel! I’m still working out the figures.
I think he will really love coming to California sometime. When it gets cold and wet here, I think he’ll be on the move! I’ll have to bundle him up for Prague!

I just found it so interesting when you turned this post into an awesome Traveling story. Are you sending Pete the Cat to anyone else?
Are you nervous that you are sending Pete?

Dear BB,
Pete is not nervous! No! He has his traveling and dancing shoes on! He’s probably singing in the package the whole way down under!
I wonder what song he will learn while he is at your house! Will Flipper enjoy having a visitor? What about Hack?
I would love to take Flipper around here for you! I’m sure we can find some great places to visit!

Dear Mrs Hembree,
How exciting that Pete has decided to fly out to Australia. Can’t wait for Pete to arrive. Now does Pete have anything special that he might like to have when he arrives.
BB has already decided what and where she would like Pete to visit when he arrives.
I hope he doesn’t get to home sick. I’m pretty sure Hack will love meeting Pete.
Will let you know when he safely arrives as I know you would like to know.
Looking forward to our new guest in the house down under.
Cheers,
AA

Dear AA,
I hope Pete doesn’t get sick on the plane! He did fine on the car trip this summer and certainly likes to dance, so I think he will be fine!
I wonder if Hack will smell the scent of my dog Reese on Pete.
Have fun!

Hi Mrs Hembree,
How exciting to have your friend Pete visiting us in the Land Down Under in Australia!!!
Pete will have a fabulous time visiting BB and AA – I’m sure he will be very well looked after (maybe even spoilt a bit!) I wish he was here this week so he could come to see our school performance called “A nice day for it”. We are singing and dancing to lots of Australian songs – Pete would be joining in for sure!
I will be keeping an eye on BB’s Blog to see what Pete and Flipper get up to….
Maybe one day in the not too distant future YOU will be coming to visit us here in Australia too (not in an envelope though!!)
