Happy Leap Year
It’s February 29, 2012 which means it’s a leap year and we just got an extra day to the year! It only happens once every four years! People born on this day in a previous year are called Leaplings. So why do we have this strange extra day? Watch this video to find out. Then visit the world’s biggest blogging project Feb29th.net today before midnight and share what you are doing!

How will you celebrate Leap Day?
Do you know anyone who was born on Feb. 29th?

Dear Mes.Hembree,
Happy leap year. If I celebrate leap day is trying to loss 366 calories or jump rope 366 times so then we add it up. So that is all I can talk about this post.

Dear Mrs Hembree,
I loved this U Tube explaining Leap year must say it is rather clever.
I don’t know of anyone who is celebrating a birthday on the 29th of Feb. But I do know of someone who’s birthday is on the 28th of Feb.
I think he is rather pleased that his birthday is on the 28th of Feb.
We celebrated Leap Day by having no computer.

Dear Mrs. Yollis,
I thought the video helped to visually explain Leap Day. I am pleased it helped your students.
I left a post on Deputy Mitchell’s blog about 29 books I love!
Now we are gearing up for World Read Aloud Day on March 7th. We have a guest author coming and we are having a Dress up as a Book Character Day! I am dressing up as Fancy Nancy! Who would you dress up as Mrs. Yollis?

Dear Mrs. Hembree,
I know it’s a little late but happy Leap Year to you too! It’s always exciting to have something different like this happen!
Thanks for sharing the video to help explain it as well. I definitely think it would really help students better understand the reasoning behind it!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
