Book Review: Ellie McDoodle: New Kid in School by Ruth McNally Barshaw
Ellie McDoodle’s family decides to move to a new town and Ellie not happy at all. She loves her old house, friends, room and memories. She is convinced that everything about the new house and her new school will be terrible. She’s right. It’s not easy at school in the beginning, but things change for the good.
The author combines sketches and doodles with her light, journal style writing. The style may remind readers of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, although this book is definitely intended for a female audience. We also have book 2 in the Ellie McDoodle series. Look for it in the humor section. (Review by Mrs. Hembree)
